چکیده

Neutron and proton densities in the nuclear periphery are investigated within (p,n) charge-exchange isobar transitions. For this purpose we have developed parameterfree optical potentials 1) with a detailed treatment of the in-medium tτ part of the effective interaction. Non local coupled-channel Lane equations are solved to obtain the scattering observables. The use of conventional proton and neutron densities significantly underestimates Fermi (forward-angle) cross-sections in agreement with findings by various other groups. However, we have found model-independent densities which provide a remarkable improvement in the description of the quasielastic scattering data. The densities obtained are consistent with recent measurements at CERN in studies of the neutron-to-proton halo factor f(r)=Zρn/Nρp with antiprotons 2). These findings provide an alternative way to investigate the nuclear periphery, and may also help to solve the long-standing puzzle of the underestimated Fermi cross section in (p,n) charge-exchange phenomena.

Evidence of strong effects of the 11 Be halo structure on reaction processes at energies around the Coulomb barrier

The collision induced by the three Beryllium isotopes, Be, on Zn target were investigated at Ec.m. ≈ 1.4 the Coulomb barrier. Elastic scattering angular distributions were measured for the Be collisions whereas, in the Be case the quasielastic scattering angular distribution was obtained. A strong damping of the quasielastic cross-section was observed in the Be case, especially in the angular r...

Inclusive quasielastic electron scattering on 6 He : a probe of the halo structure

We investigate inclusive electron scattering reactions on two-neutron halo nuclei in the quasielastic region. Expressions for the cross section and structure functions are given assuming that the halo nucleus can be described as a three-body system (core+n+n). The method is applied to 6He. We compute cross sections and structure functions, and investigate the kinematic conditions for which the ...

Analysis of exchange terms in a projected extended random phase approximation theory applied to the quasielastic „e ,e8... reaction

A systematic study of the influence of exchange terms in the longitudinal and transverse nuclear response to quasielastic (e ,e8) reactions is presented. The study is performed within the framework of the extended random phase approximation, which in conjuction with a projection method permits a separation of various contributions tied to different physical processes. The calculations are perfo...

Meson-exchange currents and quasielastic antineutrino cross sections in the superscaling approximation.

We evaluate quasielastic double-differential antineutrino cross sections obtained in a phenomenological model based on the superscaling behavior of electron scattering data and estimate the contribution of the vector meson-exchange currents in the two-particle-two-hole sector. We show that the impact of meson-exchange currents for charge-changing antineutrino reactions is much larger than in th...
